Switch it, change it, rearrange it.

The blog is back, with a vengance. Here’s where you’ll find all the pertinent information on me and my career. I’ll be posting any and all relevant news, as well as any info on where and how to see me do my thing.

In related news, I just attended auditions in Newark, NJ for The X Factor. While I was cut, I had a fantastic time, met a lot of cool people, and it felt nice to be a part of something so cool. I’ll let you know when the NJ episode of the show airs (in July, I think), and maybe we’ll be able to see me!

Here’s to new beginnings.

Viva La Vida-

Had an audition yesterday for Sweeney Todd,Β  it’s nice to see that community theater is alive and well. πŸ™‚ someday (hopefully sooner than later) I will play Mrs. Lovett, and i will KILL it. Hard.

Saturday I have a photo shoot in Staten Island, which promises to be great experience. Especially in creating a mood and emotion within the picture, and how makeup can influence that. Gotta use my instincts. It’s gonna be awesome.

Training for Macy’s starts next monday, and tuesday after training i’ll be jetting over to port authority and hopping on a bus to atlantic city! yay end of summer mini-vaca.

I got a job! I’m going to be a Beauty Advisor at Impulse Beauty, inside the beauty arcade at Macy’s Herald Square! I start training next week… Hooray!

Not only is it a job, but it is MAKEUP! And, it is nights and weekends, which leaves me the day free to audition. FABOOSH!

My boyfriend is making fish, and it smells SO good…

Anyway, got an audition tomorrow night for Sweeny in Staten Island! Exclamation Points!

Viva La Vida-

After the gig on Monday, I used the awesome powers of networking to book another makeup gig! I’ll be doing a photo shoot next Saturday, conveniently on Staten Island. Yay.

I also reserved my space to go to a lecture by my new favorite author/guru, Gabrielle Bernstein. It’s called “The Universe Has Your Back,” and it’s on the 30th. I’m totally jazzed for it, and hopefully I can network there too. It’ll also be great to get a nice boost for my spiritual growth. I gotta use my free time now to get in proper alignment, and that way I can attract the perfect job. And since group thought is incredibly powerful, let’s all pray together for me to get the perfect, part time, well paying, flexible, makeup/theater related job! Thanks guys! πŸ™‚

Spent today washing brushes, tossing out old products, and reorganizing my personal makeup collection. It needs work, but it’ll be good for now. I ordered some brushes off ebay, hopefully they’ll be of sufficient quality to serve my needs. I will be super happy when my personal collection is comparable to my professional kit.

Anyway, that’s it. I’m ready for the perfect job to come into my life, and ready to reach my potential. Hoo-ah.

Not a lot to report today. A very lazy day spent in Flushing. I might be hooking up with a photog in Staten Island to collaborate on some shoots, makeup of course. I’m looking for jobs, hopefully in some cosmetic capacity. I just have the problem of a couple of my previous employers having closed, and therefore unable to give references…

Here’s my issue with that: why should it matter? i worked at my last place for 2 straight years. yes, they fired me, but they gave me a letter of recommendation, and i suppose if you called them, they’d be gracious enough not to bad mouth me. So why should it matter what the person i worked for 4 years ago for 3 months think of me? i mean, they probably don’t even remember who I am! What am I supposed to do? THE PLACE CLOSED!

Rant over… but seriously. I would like a retail job in cosmetics, and unfortunately, 2 of my last 4 places of employment have closed, and the third has moved and i have no idea if my boss is even there anymore, since i haven’t talked to her since 2007… So what’s a girl to do? shouldn’t i be rewarded for working at the same place for 2 years?

Anyway, i need some headshots. boo.

So, Monday was my very first makeup gig! I helped out with the fashion event Dresses For Haiti! It was such a great experience, and despite all the stress and the sweat, I had a lot of fun. I got some great experience as to what it’s like to work in a crowded, small place, and how to match darker skin tones. It was a very rewarding day, and I know I made some contacts and friends. πŸ™‚

Today I went to the Disney Cruise Line audition for the Villains call… of course. Some people had been there since 7:30am, if that gives you any indication of how crazy Disney auditions are. I got there at 12:30, and I was number 12 in line (oh, the expert art of pushing my way to the front of the clump). I went in, sang Big Time, and the auditioner said I had “Nice pipes.” It was nice being at an audition that was as regimented and strict in its timing as this one.

That’s all for now. Just mailed off a couple of my professional discount applications. Hope they come through quick! And that I have another gig soon. πŸ™‚

Friday was Fashion’s Night Out in NYC, which means that everyone dressed up like crazypants and walked around 5th ave… including me, and my friend from Chic, Rosangela. We hit up Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman, and then visited our instructor/awesome friend Ruthie at MAC. It as really cool to go out and participate in the fashion industry, even if that meant just hanging out and drinking free wine and people watching. πŸ™‚

I’m going to be doing makeup for a fashion event on Monday, Dresses For Haiti. I’m pretty excited about it, I can’t wait to get some more experience as a makeup artist. I hope to be learning a little more about what I’ll be doing specifically that day. I sent an email to the organizers today and hopefully they’ll get back to me soon.

Also looking forward to goingΒ  to Unity church tomorrow morning and getting more involved in that community. There are a lot of theater performers there.

Also, there’s an audition for a Disney Villains show on Tuesday, and I’m totally hitting that up (Ursula, hello!).

I’m going to be doing some makeup for the charity fashion show Dresses For Haiti on Monday the 13th, and I just found out that a couple of foundation palette’s that I ordered are not going to be arriving until next week… This is stupid news. Halloween isn’t for over a month, so why oh why is it already backing up their orders? Now I have to go buy some palettes, even though I already paid for the ones I ordered, and then have some duplicate products. Damn.

Such is life.

That’s about all I have to say at this point. Life is slowly chugging along.

I’m here again! I made it! I’m actually about to go to a model audition for a charity fashion show, possibly to do some makeup for the actual show. That would be fantastic. Plus, I got the unretouched shots back from my photo shoot, which can be seen here:!/album.php?aid=27320&id=147202008644798&fbid=148798295151836&ref=mf.

All in all, I’m feeling very lucky. There are a few cool auditions on the horizon, 2 next week. Very glad to be me.

Gotta run. πŸ™‚

So yeah. Not sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day anymore, I acutally have to find time to sit down and write on this blog. And since my life has been thrown out of the routine it’s been in for 2 years, I wasn’t really feeling like finding that time. I’ve been taking it easy. Well, not too easy.

I finished the Basic Beauty Makeup Artistry course at Chic Studios. Man, that was one of the greatest ideas I ever had, because that was some serious fun. I met some fantastic people that will hopefully be friends and colleagues for a long time. I also discovered that I am pretty darn good as a makeup artist, and I actually have a chance of making it in this profession. Having Chic really helped me through the initial shock of losing my job, and I’m so glad I had the program and the people there to provide some direction and laughs.

I’ve had 2 interviews for a makeup counter position at Macy’s Herald Square. Everything that I’ve heard so far leads me to believe that the job will begin late September, early October. I’m still going to apply at some other places in the meantime. Definitely cosmetics retail.

I went to the Cats call last week. I didn’t get called back… that’s OK. Someday it will be the right time, and I will get to go on that tour.

Unity church is awesome.

My apartment is great. If only I had furniture.

That’s it for now. I promise to get back to posting regularly. I just needed a break. Back to life, back to reality.
